Although its OK to substitute a seminar from another school, the J-School seminars are 6 credits and most classes in other schools are 3. What does this difference mean?
Journalism students make up the 3 extra credits by supplementing whatever outside course they take with journalistic work done under a J-School advisor on a tutorial basis. The advisor and the student will work out an outline of additional assignments that will complement the work required in the class. The Dean of Students decides whether a class is appropriate as part of an outside seminar.
