You can never tell how the gun was treated unless you really know about the gun, sort of like a used car. It may look great on the outside but be destroyed on the inside. I would suggest buying from a paintball store. The difference between expensive guns and cheaper guns is the rate of fire, consistancy, recoil, looks, etc. The more expsensive the gun, the faster it will fire, the less recoil it will have and the more consistant it will be. You really don’t want an expensive gun to start out with. Get a Tippmann or a Spyder to start out with and if you really like the sport you can move on from there. Good luck!
