Also, what causes inverted t waves?
Answer Dear Amy, Inverted T waves are normal in leads with inverted QRS, but are suspicious in leads where the QRS is upright. A suspicious T inversion may well be normal if it’s in only one lead, but could be the result of insufficient blood supply to an area of the heart since the T was not inverted a year ago. With your age and negative family history, I bet it will turn out to be nothing. A negative stress test monitored by echo or radioisotopes gives 95% probability of no heart attack or cardiac death for at least 7 years, probably 15 years at your age. Stress does increase the frequency of palpitations. Please write back if this note doesn’t answer all your questions, and PLEASE let me know what the stress test shows.
