Also many of the insurance companies that provide workers compensation to health care facilities may have guidelines and/or training classes on methods of patient transfer with reduced risks. One thing you will note quickly from the publications is that there is no one safe method or amount that is considered safe and what guidance there is varies can vary from location to location. There are far too many variables to use the calculations which have been developed for safe lifting without extensive work for each specific circumstance. And change any one factor such as the height of the person doing the lifting or the person being lifted and the entire calculation must be redone.
