Answer Hi Matt; As long as you aren’t drag racing on the street all is OK. You can purchase an air filter kit from K&N filters which will wake up your car a bit, if you have fuel injection get the FIPK they mention. Also you can use an exhaust header and open mufflers which will help. You’d better pick up a copy of Sport Compact at your local newsstand, there will be a number of companies willing to help you with exhaust systems. The subject of chips is beyond me. In my kind of racing I don’t use them. The 2.0 liter four is a good little motor, treat it right. Especially, use a symthetic oil (I don’t recommend Mobile One) try Castrol Syntec, and you can run it for 15,000 miles! Just change the filter every 3000 Mi. and add enough oil to top it off. The synthetics lubricate better, and don’t break down from heat like petroleum oils do.
