All of the web hosting plans I see offer a certain amount of disk space. What is disk space?
Disk space refers to the amount of storage space on the server’s hard drive that you are permitted to use. You can think of it as your storage shed that you fill up with your website files. Disk space is usually measured in megabytes. When you upload your website files (this includes html pages, image files, scripts, etc.) to the server you use up your disk space allowance. The size of your files will determine how much space is used up. In most cases, the amount of space a file requires on the server is about the same, or smaller than that required on your computer, as file sizes are generally smaller under the server operating system.
