After being hired, how long will it be before I am sent to the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy?
This time frame will vary. New hires will be initially assigned to the Training Division and will be required to attend the Columbia Police Departments six-week Basic Candidate School. This will provide much of the needed initiation and training to prepare the new officer/candidate for the Academy. At any point after that (five weeks), the new hires may be sent to the Criminal Justice Academy.
