I have an 05 civic sedan. I have 55,000 miles on it and would like to get some power out of it along with improving gas mileage. I recently installed 17″ tires with new wheels replacing my stock hubcaps. I’ve heard about cold intake, spark plugs etc, but also heard that cold air intake is not always recommended. I’m by far not car savy but any advice will be appreciated. Thank You! A: Ok, cold air intakes are good for power but inconvenient. It leaves your filter by the ground which is bad in wet road conditions. Go for a short ram, it will give you better throttle response and more hp with no rain worries. A short ram is like a cold air minus the tube extending out of the wheel well. You could remove your power steering or a/c belt (or both), that won’t give hp but will remove parasitic drag on the motor allowing it to rev easier = better acceleration and mpg but you won’t be very comfortable when it’s hot out.
