Actually my question is simple but to avoid a lot of work and errors i ask: Is it possible to install a new MediaWiki and use the old database with the old media files?

This is because my current installation (1.11) is moving to another server and it need to get an update. My thoughts were to install the latest version, copy the mediafiles to the new server, import the database to the new server, change de localsettings.php and go on with the Wiki’s. So instead of updating it will be a new installation with the old content.
