Acting Harlingen City Manager has started his personal vendettas, who will be next?
Jeff Lyssy was named director of the Parks and Recreation Department some time back, shortly after his predecessor, Charles Wilson, died. Jeff, who’s worked for the department for a few years, has worked diligently and has gained the respect of most city employees – and members of the Harlingen City Commission and the public. There’s one person who does not like him and it’s reported they have had disagreements about the operation of the parks and recreations department. So, now that Acting City Manager Gabe Gonzalez has the big bat in which to strike at any city employee, including department heads (until a new city manager is selected), as a personal vendetta, he has demoted Lyssy and plans to advertise for a new parks-recreations director. The irony of this is that Gabe Gonzalez is the inept one, and this is no secret.
