According to the “hopeful monster” saltation theory of Prof Goldschmidt were there transitional species for every new suddenly appearing fossil species?
Nope. The jump from one species to the next (very different fossil species) was by saltation — a sudden jump that is not marked by gradual change. This was viewed as being of very low probability by other evolutionists. As a result, Prof Goldschmidt was mocked and derided by other evolutionists, almost to the destruction of his career.
