According to the Bible, where is the “third heaven” located?
The location of the “third heaven” is unknown. The only place the “third heaven” is directly mentioned is in II Corinthians 12:2-4, where Paul writes about himself (in the third person) and equates the “third heaven” with Paradise: “I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such a one caught up to the third heaven. And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth): how that he was caught up into Paradise and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.” So wherever Paradise is located, that is where the “third heaven” is located. The only things scripture reveals about Paradise are: 1. That it is the place Jesus went to when He died on the cross; the same place He promised to the thief on the cross. (Luke 23:43) 2. To the church of Ephesus, Jesus revealed that the Tree of Life is in the midst of Paradise. (Revelations 2:7
