According to NMI research, which condition-specific dietary supplements are consumers using?
SF: We’ve just completed the seventh year of NMI’s annual Health & Wellness Trends Database research, which included a survey of 2,800 U.S. general population households in September 2005. We asked consumers which nutritional supplements they use that are condition-specific supplements (further defined by combination formulas). We then listed 16 specific types of products (e.g., supplements for arthritis) to measure usage levels. According to this newly released data, the top 10 categories of condition-specific supplements being used by the American adult general population are: Joint health (24%), Heart health (18%), Arthritis (18%), Osteoporosis/ bone health (18%), Immune support (17%), Cholesterol (16%), Prostate (15%), Energy (14%), Menopause (14%) and Digestion (12%).
