the smell wouldn’t normally come from the toilet itself, if it’s sewage because of the design of the trap on the toilet; if you have a drain that is not regularly flushed out(such as a sink or shower that you don’t use often), that can make a smell from the stagnant water

It could be sulfur in your water. If thats the case, it’s not harmful, it just smells really bad. Turn on your tap water and see if you smell it everywhere else too and if so, that’s it.
