A hole in my wall, how do I patch it corectly?
This one is fun… here are some things you will need… Cardboard, Pencil or stick like a popsicle type stick Spackling/ joint compound String Smoothing knife- or whatever spatula thing to smooth out the spackling… First… Cut out some carboard that will cover the hole pretty generously. Poke a hole in the middle of it… Tie the sting to the pencil or stick… pull the string through the hole on the cardboard. You should be able to hold up the cardboard by holding the string- the pencil tied to the string should be underneath the cardboard as you hold it up… Fold up the cardboard and pencil thing and put it into the hole in the wall. Then open up the card board as it is inside the wall and then pull on the string. This will provide the backing so that you can now fill in the hole with spackling. Keep holding onto the string and slap on some spackling. Smooth it all out while still holding ont the string but remember to leave a slight dip or small depression where the sting is co
OK here is the way to do it take and cut a square hole in the wall around where you have punched thru after that is done take a piece of drywall and first measure a square at least 4 inch’s bigger then the square you have cut in the wall so if they hole in your wall is a 4 inch square you need a 8 inch square of patch drywall ,now in the patch piece measure out a 4 inch square in the middle and cut it out leaving the paper backing so you now should have a piece of dry wall with a paper square of 8 inch’s and a drywall square of 4 inch’s , this is a plug so now all you have to do is put a little joint compound or spackle on the paper and put it it the hole in the wall the paper will keep it from going all the way thru after that apply more joint compound let dry and sand and paint it generally takes several hours to complete it all
