A hand fasting ceremony?

The ceremony you use is just fluff, the legality has to do with the paperwork being filled out, signed and witnessed. Not sure what a ‘hand fasting ceremony’ is, but all you need is to find a judge to be there and sign the paperwork. My understanding is the paperwork can even be signed at the courthouse. You may consider doing that, and then having the ceremony that evening. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Edit: What a neat ceremony.

Of course you don’t have to get married in a religious ceremony of any kind! You can be married by a Justice of the Peace, or a judge. I’ve never heard of a blood vow at a wedding, but, hey its your wedding. Hand fasting is really a tradition and has nothing to do with the legal aspect of the ceremony. You certainly can use it in your wedding. If you decide on a non-religious wedding, talk to the justice or judge about the way you’d like it to go. They are usually very helpful.

There are ordained Wiccan Priests and Priestesses that are licensed to perform marriages/hand fastings. Try checking under the networking section of witchvox.com for Pagan clergy in your area. Not exactly sure what you mean by a “blood vow” but if you think it’s something that may scare your family, then I’m guessing it wouldn’t be something I would do in a hand fasting ceremony.

Check your state laws for who can officiate a wedding – several of my friends are ordained by various organizations (you know, pay $35 and choose your title, and they’ll file the necessary paperwork with the state for you. My girlfriend’s brother chose ‘shaman’.
