A guide should speak Portuguese for the pilgrims best interest?
Not all guides speak Portuguese and they are excellent guides. They have strong relationships with the Casa translators and totally surrender to the accuracy of their translations and rightly so. There are only a couple of English-speaking Casa Group Leaders who can translate directly to the Entities for their group members. Each Entity speaks with a different voice, style, accent, vocabulary, slang, dated slang, etc. It takes years for people to hear all these differences and accurately understand what messages are really being passed on.
