Art and Islam
Degrees: Master of Art Education (in progress)
Bachelor of Fine Art (drawing and painting)
Associate of Arts (liberal arts)
Experience: I suppose you could say I am a professional student. I love to learn about everything. I am an avid reader and love books to be suggested. I read books on philosophy, religion, poetry, science, and a lot of art books. I visit art museums rather often and, when I can, attend art lectures.
I am a mother of a 5 month old baby and everyday is a joy. I am constantly looking through baby magazines and websites for the latest health news and baby gear.
I love to teach. I taught English and Art when I was living in Egypt. It was exciting and eye opening to live and work outside of the United States. It was this experience that led me to want to teach here. So, I enrolled in school. Now, I am working on my teacher's certification and master's degree.
Art has always been in my life. When I was in 3rd grade, I would draw pictures for everyone in my class. It was at this time that I knew I would have a life in art. I love drawing and painting and trying new media. I also enjoy arts and crafts. I have done printmaking and created sculptures. I work with my hands a lot. I have built and stretched my own frames for many years now.
I became Muslim in 2007. A friend had introduced Islam to me, which, honestly, I knew nothing about at that time. There are so many books on Islam, but my favorite Islamic inspired writing is the poetry of Rumi.
As you can see, there are many topics about which I love to learn and talk. I could go on forever, but writing a novel is not my style. less
