Worked for 10 years at the U.S. Department of Justice National Institute of Corrections. Provided training and technical assistance to various state and local corrections and criminal justice agencies. Published several articles including MOVING TOWARD COMMUNITY JUSTICE which was awarded with the 1995 Sam Houston University award for outstanding contribution to scholarship in corrections. I also worked with the Police Foundation in Washington DC for one year. I helped Police departments develop community policing practices.

Retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons after 27 years of service. I began as a correctional officer in a maximum security federal penitentiary and worked in a number of federal penitentiaries as well as in community corrections.
