Does the Court have a Dress Code?

Yes. If you are unsure what is appropriate attire for court, you may pick up a copy of the Municipal Court Dress Code from the Clerk’s office. Also, a copy of the Dress Code is posted in the hallways adjacent to the Courtroom. These rules are not intended to embarrass anyone but instead they are intended to ensure that persons in the Courtroom do not obstruct or interfere with the transaction of the Court’s business in an orderly manner and that they not diminish in any way the dignity of the judicial proceedings. If your attire is inappropriate for court, you may either be asked to wait in the hallway until all other cases have been disposed of or your case may be continued to another date to allow you to assemble appropriate attire for another court appearance.
