What is the ORISE overhead rate?
The ORISE overhead, which is usually quoted at 15 percent, covers all administrative costs (staff time, postage, materials and supplies, etc.) plus the DOE Federal Administrative Charge (FAC), which is an additional 3 percent. Since the ORISE overhead is based on actual costs, the rate is adjusted periodically during the year and the final rate is not fixed until the fiscal year end. Typically, the rate has run less than 15 percent.
