How does someone become a Pagan ?
By not being part of an acceptable religious belief system, advocating alternative religious thought or practicing rituals the religous group lableing you a pagan doesn’t approve of. The word pagan is often used to refer to those still practicing ancient religious beliefs, no longer acceptable in mainstream society such as living sacrfices, worshiping inaimate objects such as rocks etc. In biblical times the Jews called Christians goyim(pagan), and the Christians called the Greeks and Romans pagans. If you want to become a pagan, try join a group that worships Ra, the sun god. Worship of Ra is considered by some to be pagan because the sun is not a living being. Unsavory religious thought gets you labeled a heratic. Unsavory religious practice…pagan!
Paganism is not a proselytizing religion. If the Pagan path is right for you, you will find your way to it, whether through devotion to Nature, reading published books on Paganism and Pagan paths, or through actual apprenticeship to an initiate of an already established Pagan tradition, Coven, Grove or Pagan study group.
