Yes. It’s large part of the vampire myth that they live forever and stay in the same state as the day they are changed. However the gift of immortality is not free and the trade-off is not having a soul and thereby living as a sort of demon in a human shell. You also can’t ever walk in daylight and other restrictions.
Another aspect of immortality that Anne Rice touched upon – it’s sometimes difficult for vampires to change with the times so that’s when they lose a part of themselves and grow weak if they don’t adjust to the centuries that past and world changes around them.

After death it is believed the spirit form of the Vampire is carried off into another temple.
