Does Detrol Cause a Dry Mouth?
Dry mouth is a possible side effect of DetrolĀ® (tolterodine tartrate), a prescription medication approved for the treatment of an overactive bladder. Detrol is an anticholinergic medication, and like most anticholinergics, it often causes a dry mouth. In fact, dry mouth is the most common Detrol side effect. In studies, up to 35 percent of people taking the drug reported having a dry mouth, compared to only 10 percent of people taking a placebo (a “sugar pill” with no active ingredient).
