What is Wellbutrin used to treat?
450 is a high dose (the highest recommended dose actually.) I’ve been taking Wellbutrin for the depression part of my bipolar for about 8 years at 300 mg. Out of 19 different psych meds, I have found this one to be the most helpful with least side effects. (I am on 3 other medications as well…but the Wellbutrin is one I don’t change because it works for me.) It has the qualities of a mild stimulant, so it can – theoretically- be somewhat helpful for ADHD as well (although I have not found it to help in that area all that much.) From what I’ve been told by mental health professionals though, it generally has minimal effects on ADHD symptoms. At 300 mg a day, the risk of seizure is 1 in 1000. The risk is higher as the dose goes up, but it still isn’t that bad. Personally, I have had no problems with it. It’s generic name is bupropion and it’s most commonly used as an antidepressant. It’s also used to treat anxiety disorders, nicotine withdrawal and some other conditions. Since you’re taking it and if you smoke and want to quit now is the time. It’s very helpful for the withdrawal symptoms. Going cold turkey off cigarettes I would be miserable for days but using this drug I only had very mild withdrawal symptoms for only a day or two.
