What is a salvage title?

0

A Salvage Certificate of Title is issued to a vehicle that was stolen, wrecked, destroyed, water damaged or otherwise damaged to the extent that the owner, leasing company, financial institution or insurance company considers it to be uneconomical to repair.

A salvage title is nothing more than a regular title which states Salvage or Rebuilt Salvage on it’s title. This marking is put on the title to disclose the used vehicle’s history of being repaired. However, not all repairs are known. For example, when an insurance company orders a used car or truck repaired it may or may not bear the mark. Salvage title used cars are often no different than clear titles on used cars, which an insurance company after an accident has ordered repaired. The salvage title marking is to alert the consumer of repairs that need to be or have been made. IMPORTANT NOTE: You drive the vehicle not the title. Outside damage which is repaired does not affect how the vehicle operates.
