What is Open Enrollment and what is the procedure to apply for Open Enrollment?
Open Enrollment allows children who live in South Brunswick to attend a K-5 elementary school other than the assigned school. Open Enrollment decisions are made on a space-available basis. An application for Open Enrollment is obtained from the student’s assigned school. Once the application is completed by the parent it is to be returned to the principal of the assigned school. The application is then forwarded for approval to the principal of the requested school. When application is made for the start of a new school year, the decision is not finalized until late August. (Due to enrollment numbers, the request may not always be granted.) If granted, the parent is responsible for transporting the child to and from school. There are no exceptions to this rule. Open Enrollment assignments are reviewed annually.
