What is a radiographer?
A radiographer is the health professional who produces a wide range of diagnostic images, including the familiar X-ray image, CT scan, Magnetic Resonance scan, mammogram, angiogram and bone mineral density scan for the diagnosis and management of a person‘s illness or injury. A radiographer may choose to specialise further and for example, following additional postgraduate education, deliver medical ultrasound services as a sonographer. This crucial member of the healthcare team works in multiple environments including hospitals and medical clinics and possesses specialised knowledge that enables them to deliver an essential service that is both highly technical and patient focussed.
