There is a good story here ( http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mbeatlesbreakup.html ) that describes the events/situations leading up to the beatles break up in 1970. Basically, there were lots of things that were happening. Their manager (Epstein) died in 1967. They tried to manage themselves, but it didn’t work out so well. John met yoko and Paul met Linda… all four beatles are persuing solo careers…. it really wasn’t just one thing.. it was just one thing after another, and a lack of a good manager that led them to break up.
