Is granite environmentally friendly?
Yes. Competitive materials such as concrete, plastic, metal, or glass are made using massive amounts of electricity and irreplaceable fossil fuels as well as causing pollution in their making. Also, granite lasts for centuries, unlike other countertops which must be replaced due to wear and tear and the passing of design trends. There is no waste in granite excavation; large blocks are cut into slabs and tile, and smaller pieces are used for landscaping materials, pillars and walls in village houses which are low cost and permanent. The smallest pieces are made into road materials. After excavation, quarries are refilled and turned into agricultural lands.
