What are the requirements to get H-1B?
The H-1B is a nonimmigrant classification used by a foreign worker who is employed temporarily in a specialty occupation. The H-1B visa is issued to non-immigrant workers in specialty occupations. Essentially, these are all professional level workers – people working in jobs that require at least a bachelor’s degree as a minimum entry requirement. This category allows such workers to be employed for up to six years. Therefore, you must have the U.S. equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree in a specialized subject, such as computer science, economics etc., and the job must require such specialization. There must be an U.S. employer who is willing to sponsor you, i.e. the employer offers you a job, and the job is a specialty occupation, which is the one that requires at least a bachelor degree in the relevant field.
