What is a healing crisis?
The body’s natural method of healing is to push out toxins, so when a remedy is taken this process is heightened. Also, essences stimulate our mind to process through mental constructs which are not supportive. Sometimes a client may feel ill or uncomfortable. A flower essence client may feel more emotional than usual and wonder what’s going on. It can feel as if they are having a reaction but really it’s just part of the healing process. It usually lasts no more than a few days after which they feel very refreshed and renewed. Usually, this process is subtle and relatively easy to tolerate. Back to top.
A healing crisis is more than a cleansing reaction. Most all of us have absorbed toxins from our polluted environments, but not all of us have suffered with trauma or disease. A cleansing reaction shows itself in generalized body symptoms while releasing toxins. A healing crisis shows itself in the reappearance of old symptoms associated within specific areas that have undergone injury or disease. You may also experience the cleansing reaction symptoms while undergoing this repair work. The body’s wisdom is such that as you clean out and regain energy; the body directs that energy to heal these old injuries or diseases. The body only does this when it knows it can handle it. Once again, the symptoms may be mild to severe, but only as much as your body can sustain at that time. It can last for a few hours, to a few days, and rarely, for a few weeks.

Most of us often forget the diseases or injuries we suffered in the past. During a detox, a healing crisis may occur through symptoms of past sickness such as a fever, headaches, extreme fatigue, aches, pains, sleeplessness, sinus congestion, catarrhal expulsion and skin eruption. These are all signs that the detox is working and that your body is going through the process of cleaning itself of impurities, toxins and imbalances.
