I think “mehereintheeast” has probably answered the most correctly and completely. I just wanted to comment on some of your other answers especially the answere from “Gary”. I should point out to you that true Christians tell the truth. The fact is that Gautama was a real person. The word Buddha simply means “enlightened one”. It should also be noted that Gautama never claimed to be a god nor did he want to be worshiped as a god. That all comes from other people’s actions after his death. Similar to Christians ‘worshiping’ Mary or ‘worshiping’ the image of the cross, when the old testament is very clear not to make any graven images. Graven means handmade. I hope everyone understands that not all people that call themselves Christians are ignorant and closed minded. Jesus would never have lied. In fact he said that Satan was the father of lies … what does that say about so-called Christians that lie?
