Who was Sam Rayburn?
Well, I’m from New Jersey so of course I know who Sam Rayburn was. He was one of the original members of the great Mafioso family in this area. You see Rayburn had a long-running illegal alcohol ring during the prohibition, but one time he got busted by the other rival Mafia family. It’s a long story after that, but basically they cinder-blocked his legs and dumped him in the lake here. And that is why it’s called Lake Sam Rayburn.
