DirecTV requires one dish for either standard or HD programming. Dish Network requires one dish for standard and HD programming in most areas of the Unites States. Unfortunately since we are in the Northwest and the satellites are over Texas we cannot get a good enough signal strength for HD on one dish and so a second dish is required with Dish Network.
