Is VoIP significant technology?
VoIP is a significant advance in technology and is sometimes described as a disruptive technology. That means it has the ability to disrupt the status quo and force changes to the existing means of using telephone service. While its power is becoming felt in the US, it has had an enormous impact in other parts of the world because there are many countries that are just beginning to install their telecommunications infrastructure, unlike here where we have had decades of outstanding service.
