How many agencies does United Way fund?
The answer is 74. But there’s a different way to look at the issue. United Way doesn’t fund agencies — it funds a network of programs and initiatives which are working together to help individuals, families and neighborhoods thrive. In 2005-2006 we funded 170 programs within 76 agencies; for 2006 – 2007 it will be 169 programs within 74 agencies. Included are Metro schools, neighborhood associations, nonprofit agency programs, community partnerships, churches and congregations. All of these funded programs are directly connected to United Way’s outcome based investment process. When any agency, organization or group applies for United Way funding, it presents a program or programs that specifically support one of the outcomes we have identified for the Nashville community.
