Smoltz has stated several times that he wants to see the Braves win another world series before he retires (which could be a while) He had surgery that ended his season as the states above. There has not been a decision on wither or not he will be able to play next year. The Braves are planning on hiring him as a pitching coach if his pitching career is over.
