Does the Pope change his name?
some do, the majority do, it is an option. i believe it stems from the bible, if you notice whe ngod has a special plan for someone you notice that their name is changed, take for example simon peter. jesus changed his name to kepha and he became the first pope. another aspect to look at is this, when a catholic undergoes confirmation they choose the name of a saint to add to their baptismal name, the saint is selected primarily on someone that the catholic feels will bring them closer to christ, an example of someone to imitate that truly imatated virtues and values of christ. hope this has helped and god bless.
