Whether or not we fine the people who make the calls, my question is: to whom were these questions posed before people were tempted to just pick up the phone? Historically, people lived in strong communities where extended family members all lived close together and knowledge was carefully passed down from generation to generation. If the extended family could not resolve a dilemma, it was escalated to the wise elders of the community. This is one reason why the spiritual Teachings all agree on the importance of caring for elders.
