I was reading on the Cafferty File earlier today how many Americans feel that legalizing some drugs is the answer to the Cartel Wars. I have a real problem with that: Firstly, many are comparing drugs to Prohibition. Capone and company dealt in more dark places than simply the acquisition of alcohol for boozers. In fact, Capone was finally convicted of tax evasion and died due to an STD. Elliot Ness won, Prohibition ended, but gangs thrived in new arenas, and many of those were not related to what they could not use or have, but rather what, who, and why something was illegal to them. Yes, you can legalize Marijuana and all the Pot Heads will be happy. And there will be no shipments from South of the Border for that crop, but what is this drug war really about? Is it about Pot? No, it is about illicit drugs that people are hooked on because they simply do not like the word NO.
