What is D2D?
D2D, or disk-to-disk, is an effective and superior backup strategy that utilizes hard disks as the storage medium, rather than traditional tape media systems. With the price of hard disks falling while capacity and speed continue to rise, using additional hard disks for D2D backup has become the proverbial no-brainer for individuals and companies interested in protecting their computer systems. The advent of RAID (Random Array of Independent Disks) has also contributed to D2D backup strategies. Motherboards that support advanced varieties of RAID utilize multiple disks in a variety of ways to increase speed, provide redundancy and offer error correction. In both RAID and non-RAID environments, D2D backup has several advantages over tape or optical storage. There are two types of D2D: true D2D and virtual tape library or VTL D2D. The latter is not true D2D because it maintains a tape-like index of files. Though faster than tape, it still incorporates many of tape’s limitations. Tape sto
D2D stands for disk-to-disk technique that is an effective and superior method of backing up the data by utilizing hard disks as the storage medium. This technology is very useful for the companies as these can back up the lost data when the hard disk crashes or corrupted by any means. This is an advance technology that is superior to the traditional technique in which data tape was used for backing up the data. Random array of independent disks has enhances the strategy of D2D backup. The advance configured motherboard that supports varieties of RAID has lots of advantages in the data back up technique. Multiple RAID utilize multiple disks in varieties of way that enhance the speed of backing up, provide redundancy and offer error correction. Whether D2D has the facility of RAID or not, it is every time superior to traditional methods of data storing via tape or optical storage.D2D has two types. True D2D VTL (Virtual Tape Library). True D2D has the same strategy of data back up that
| What is VIP? | How to load firmware to your Vehicle Interface Kit? | Get XpressKits D2D is a series of proprietary communication protocols designed specifically for the automotive industry by our tema of highly trained technical engineers. D2D stands for data to data and refers to the protocols used for the data interchange at the hardware device level (module to module) and protocols for data interchange at hte application program level (Vehicle Interface Program). D2D has multiple protocols at each layer in the communcation exchange that both ends of the exchange must recognize and observe. This ensures that all of the data is accurately transmitted and received and even includes and check sum validation sequence. Updating Firmwares Every computer installed with Xpress VIP (Vehicle Interface Program) uses protocols for data interchanging with the upgradeable vehicle interface modules. The practical use is this allows an installer to both read and update the applicable firmwars on e
