What is a POI?
POI stands for Point of Interest. POIs can be restaurants, gas stations, airports, hotels, tourist attractions or any number of places or facilities you may want to find. Your system comes loaded with a wide range of business and leisure POI destination names and addresses, usually sorted by category, location and name, so that if you’re looking for a specific kind of cuisine, or know the exact museum name, or just want to find any gas station, you’ll be able to choose what you need.
‘POI’ stands for ‘Point of Interest’ or ‘Place of Interest’. Simply put, it is a location that is relevant to someone. In technical terms it is a named geographical coordinate that is an intersection between a latitude and longitude measure. POIs are used on GPS-enabled devices to create a relevant destination point on a map for an end-user.
