The BIOS is the program that runs when you first turn the computer on. It’s responsible for loading the boot program from the hard drive (which eventually ends in Windows running). If you read the screen before pressing F2, you’ll see *why* you have to press F2 (there’s something wrong – your keyboard, your hard drive – something).
