Biology question: why is a simple definition of life difficult to make?
Complex organisms are not difficult to define as “life”, but when you get down to microscopic organisms that are simply a single cell, it becomes difficult to define if something is alive, or if it is just a chemical reaction. At what point do you call something alive. There is a gradual scale, so to pick a specific point where you say this is alive and this isn’t is a matter of opinion.
