What are Shiny Pokémon?
Shiny Pokémon physically appear a little differently than the standard for its type. When one enters battle, the screen flashes for a moment and a little magical swirl momentarily surrounds it. Next to it’s gender there appear three little plus-signs. Other than that, they are simply just rare Pokémon. They don’t do any extra damage, learn skills no one else can, shoot energy beams from their eyes, unsheathe adamantium claws in battle, or even able to tap their head and rub their bellies at the same time. But they’re rare and rare is fun. There is one shiny Pokémon in every game of Gold/Silver/Crystal and that is the Red Gyrados residing on the Lake of Rage. Shiny Pokémon also exist in the wild, but the chance of finding one is very rare. You’ll see how rare later on.
