How did it happen? Your questions will be answered… The Cambrian Period offically kicked off the Paleazoic Era, during which many new species of animals evolved. So many new cretures appeared, almost simantainously, that this event was named the Cambrian Explosion. The Cambrian Period was the time of Gondwanaland and Lauraisa. We know this because Alfred Wegener proposed the theory of Continental Drift. He developed this theory to explay why the continents fit together like puzzle pieces and had similar fossils. This theroy proposed that at one point in time, even before the Cambrian Period, the conteniets were all joined together in one great super conteniet called Pangaea. Many animals appeared in this time period. Man is still finding fossils of trilobites, prehistoric worms, Brachiopoda, and many pre-evolved forms of starfish, sea urchins, and star brittles that exhisted during this time period.
