Research Councils – Previously contributed 46% overheads based on salary calculations plus directly incurred costs, the Research Councils will now pay 80% of the full economic costs (fEC) of research projects. The Government’s 10 year investment framework for science aims to increase this proportion close to 100% by 2010. But will be priced as previously under the terms of the funding body. Industry – Industry bodies are expecting higher charges for research undertaken due to communication activities undertaken by various Government Departments. As previously, Industrial contracts are negotiable and benefits other than cost recovery are considering factors.
