Are 800 prefix numbers still available?
Yes, the actual 800 prefix is available. Normally, when you order your service, you will receive an 877 or 888 toll-free prefix. The 800 prefix is considered a “vanity” number because the supply is limited to those which are being abandoned by current customers. There is a $30 fee for obtaining a toll-free number with the 800 prefix and you must specify and order a “vanity number” on the order form with your order if you wish to have an 800 prefix -as opposed to getting an 877 or 888 prefix.
