Portal Framing is used as lateral reinforcement when a panel is too narrow to accommodate regular Brace Panels. Typically, it is used for framing Garage openings. The panels at each end of each Portal Frame must be equal in width and height. In addition, the bottom (sill) plate must be doubled.
